EICR’s (Electrical Installation Condition Report) are best described as an electrical MOT for your home. In the same way as a MOT, your installation will be inspected and tested to a set industry standard. The inspector will then deem whether or not the installation is safe for continued use. Observations will be made and given a Code which are explained below.
Immediate Danger Present – risk of injury, immediate action required.
You can see it, you can touch it, it could kill you!
Potential Danger Present – Urgent remedial action required
Part of you installation has the potential to be dangerous and cause injury
Improvement Recommended
This code highlights areas of your installation that could be better but aren't strictly unsafe
Further Investigation Required
This code highlights areas where a potential issue has been identified and more time is needed to investigate further
Our EICR’s are charged at £25 per circuit for the first 10 circuits, and £15 per circuit after that (with a minimum charge of 6 circuits). Additional consumer units are £40 each. That’s it! To work out the number of circuits just simply count each mcb (miniature circuit breaker) or fuse in you consumer unit (fuseboard). Or better still, send us a clear picture of your consumer unit(s) and we’ll give you a quote.
For customers inside the M25 (London) the rate is £30 per circuit for the first 10 circuits, and £20 per circuit after that (minimum charge of 6 circuits).
You will no doubt be able to find another electrician willing to carry out an EICR cheaper that Faultless Electrical Services. Unfortunately, like many industries, a race to the bottom has been going on for years and EICR’s are being offered at ridiculously low prices. These reports are not worth the paper they are written on. Faultless Electrical Services will not participate in this race. Be warned that a lot of these companies use an EICR as a foot in the door and a lead loss. Luring customers in with a cheap EICR only to condemn their electrics and charge a fortune carry out (in some cases) works that are not strictly required.
As part of the service you’ll receive a thorough EICR’s with pictures of all of the observations to help you understand what has been found and the severity of issue. We will also carry out other checks as standard that are not strictly required, but we like to go above and beyond when it comes to safety. These include an earth leakage test which could diagnose future nuisance rcd tripping and check for diverted neutral current which can be a very dangerous occurrence that can go unnoticed till the unthinkable happens. We will also re-label your consumer unit with an up to date circuit chart and any safety notices that are missing. A power bank will be available for you to use to keep your wifi on or charge devices to help with the inconvenience of having the powered interrupted. Your home will be treated like our own with the utmost care with overshoes worn at all times and talking you through the whole process.
